The Holiday season is fast approaching and it got me to thinking, how many people are actually thankful for the business that they have been blessed with? I guess my point is this. If you sit and think about the business that you are in and you do not feel a sense of overwhelming gratitude, you are either DOING your business incorrectly OR you are in the wrong business!
Look, I have been doing this stuff a long time and I can you that if you are not so passionately on fire about your business that you feel that deep sense of gratitude for it, there is no way that you are going to succeed at it. A lot of people feel that once they start to see some success in their business, they will probably feel more passionate about it. I have never seen that happen either.
I guess the point to all this is simple. As you approach Thanksgiving this year, give some real thought to what it is that you are doing with your business and your future. If you are still hoping that the right thing is going to come along and you will stick with what you have until then, STOP! You are spinning your wheels and wasting your time. Don’t think of this as harsh. We all need a reality check every now and then. Truth is, many people are just in the wrong place at the moment and if they change them, and get themselves to where they should be, things will change.
So, “How do I do that”? I hear you ask. Well first of all, get real with yourself. Take a long hard look at your business. What does it require you to do? How does doing that make you feel? If you don’t feel grateful for your business, ask yourself why not? What kind of business could you have that you know you would be grateful for? Now, start finding something that truly fits with who you are. I have had people tell me. “I am not too keen on the products but these guys have an awesome comp plan!” That is just ridiculous, you will never get to feel the power of ANY compensation plan if you are not in love with your company, what they stand for and their products.
As an example. The business that I use as my primary source of income is involved in the niche of Personal Development. That is a multi-billion dollar global industry. I get to help people create the life that they long to have by teaching them how to change the way they think. For me, that is a great thing to be part of and it is a fun and enjoyable way to make a substantial income. Now, other people may not like the idea of that at all! It is just not their thing. They may be more interested in Health or Nutrition or Pets or sports. Whatever it is, I would rather they ended up in a business that they are passionate about than for them to come into MY business and end up as a person that does not feel happy and grateful and passionately excited about what they are doing.
In conclusion, give thanks this year for the fact that you even have choices. Then, make sure that by the time you get to Thanksgiving, you are truly ready for giving thanks and expressing gratitude for your business, because you have positioned yourself in the right place.
